Not All Moments Will Stay
Woollen textile, digital and handmade embroidery
2018–...
I have been a mother for almost ten years.
During that time, my role as a mother has
constantly evolved. It hasn’t always been
easy or straightforward; sometimes it’s been
confusing and full of doubt, and at other
times it’s been easy and natural.
Embroidering the pictures of my children,
especially my daughter, has been my way
of capturing everyday moments. Some-
times I long for times that I can no longer
remember – small moments that passed
unnoticed. I regret that, with the birth of
my second child, it was as if I had missed
a few years of my daughter’s life – those
times have faded from my memory, and
the pictures are all that remain as points
of reference for remembering them. From
time to time, I add something to the quilt
– it’s part of my way of remembering.
