WEAWE

2019

“WEAWE” is a collection based on an innovative technology called MultiWeave, invented by Estonian textile artist Kadi
Pajupuu. When creating these garments, you can already weave in 3D-shapes to the form you need and, if needed, later just unweave it and weave something new. To make a piece of clothing in this technique is almost zero waste, because you don’t have to cut anything off and you can use all the fabric threads for weaving. As an evolution of the MultiWeave technology, WEAWE introduces a prospect of constructing clothes in a completely new and seamless manner. Therefore, this method also presents the redesign and reuse option, as the clothes can be deconstructed and the material recreated into a new piece.

Collection WEAWE premiered on May 25, 2019 at the ERKI Fashion Show. The collection was a finalist in the Dorothy Waxman international textile prize competition and was exhibited in the finalists’ exposition in the Mohawk showroom in New York September 23-27, 2019.
